Taare Zameen Par / Stars on the ground

So I finally watched this semi-OK pirated version of a hindi film i've been wanting to watch for a long, long time...awaiting release by the day almost. Its directed and produced by Aamir Khan, which is why I was looking forward to it so much. He is pretty much one of the only indian actors I respect. His humility and lack of bollywood presence ironically makes him my favourite bollywood actor haha.

Taare Zameen Par is about a young boy who is born with dyslexia. They try to show the world in the boy's eyes as best as they can for the average person. The parents assume he has no issues like dyslexia, and that he is just a lazy moron. He studies hard though, and makes quite meaningful and illustrative paintings in his spare time, but the parents dont see this at all because he is failing every grade. Finally the parents snap and send him off to boarding school. Nothing changes for him, he becomes outcasted from everyone and the teachers think he is a good for nothing, lazy moron. By this stage the kid has lost his soul and cant even talk properly anymore.

For art class, a substitute arts teacher (aamir khan) is filling in. He notices the boy and how he feels alienated. After putting together the pieces, he finds out the boy has dyslexia. The rest of the film is basically the teacher attempting to piece back together the pieces of the boys soul and make him smile again.

You have to see this film, its so so good. 9.5/10

I cried like a little bitch watchin this film

I guess whoever saw the movie identified at some level with the kid and the problems he had fittin in with a world that works on pre set standards..
But not everyone finds an understanding teacher like that..
